Columbia City of Women Guided Walking and Bus Tour
October 27 | 2-3:30 pm | Meet at the South Carolina Monument to the Women of the Confederacy, located at the southern border of the State House grounds.
Women in Columbia have historically been trailblazers in the fields of health, education, economic opportunity, safety and freedom from violence, civic engagement, and our city’s arts and culture—yet just 4% of monuments celebrate their achievements. Join Katharine Allen, Historic Columbia’s director of research, on a guided tour of sites associated with this year’s 12 Columbia City of Women nominees that highlights how their work has shaped our shared history and physical landscape.
This tour last 90 minutes. Participants will meet at the State House grounds before embarking on a bus tour around the city. There will be one step-off location. The tour ends at the front of the State House.
Space is limited and reservations required.
Columbia City of Women Nomination Deadline
We're thrilled that you're excited about our initiative, and we want to hear about remarkable women in Columbia that you'd like to honor with a place on the City of Women map.
While we highlight the achievements of specific women in Columbia, the ultimate goal of our work is to encourage women, young girls, and everyone in the state to share stories about the many strong, courageous, and driven women in their lives. We select honorees who have made a significant and lasting impact on the lives of women and families in Columbia.
